Troy McClure Film or Actual Terrible Movie?

I'm ashamed to admit that I only scored 7 out of 12 on the Troy McClure Film or Actual Terrible Movie? quiz. Apparently I'm a little too cynical. But there were a couple of heartbreaking cases where something that I thought couldn't possibly be a real movie actually was.

Anyone up for a Scavenger Hunt?

There's a Baltimore Scavenger Hunt on Sept. 18. Teams of 1-5 people compete (one car only though). It's $25 per person.

Any interest?

Public Suggestions + Open Republican Website = Hilarity

The Republicans have created a web site to allow ordinary citizens to suggest ideas for the Republican platform. Unfortunately, they did not incorporate filters for ideas that are just too awesome for the times we live in.

Stories can be found here and here.

Let's go Ninja Cats!

Just How Geek Are You

It's a link to an article about the San Diego Geek Pride Fest, but this is easily the hardest Geek Test I've ever taken. I was actually ashamed I didn't do better, so I went up and looked up every answer I didn't know. I got 16 out of 42. Here's the link:

http://www.aolnews.com/weird-news/article/geek-pride-festival-spawns-geeky-questionnaire/19484952

Feel free to post your scores. Here's the link to the answers:

I actually found out 2 that I thought I had right were wrong (but I supposed could be debated), and one I knew, but finding the answers on my own, I thought I got wrong. Enjoy. Please post your scores and any answers you disagree with.

Pudding Not Included

This may not be He-Man singing "Hey hey hey", but maybe some of you will think that's a good thing.

Hang on until about 1:10. It's worth it.

The most anticipated sequel of the summer...

for me, is not going to be Iron Man 2. Instead, it's Starcraft 2. They finally announced a release date of July 27. Awesome.

Another Hulu type site?

If you're like me, and you've got the Comcastic monopoly for your TV and Internet service, there's some good news:

Comcast has launched a new Hulu type service called Fancast, where you can watch TV on the internet. I haven't compared it's offerings to Hulu, and I don't know what the commercial status is, but it's another option for viewing TV on the internet, particularly if you travel a lot and want to catch up with stuff on the road.

Cool Flash Game

I found this neat little Flash game called Continuity. I was playing it for a few hours yesterday as I tried to stave off cabin fever.

If you like puzzle games, then this is a great time waster. Took me a few hours, but I beat all 32 levels finally.

New A-Team movie clip

Not sure I agree with some of the actors chosen for this film. It just sounds weird with Liam Neeson at the end saying, "I love it when a plan comes together."

Bands reuniting?

So I heard that Soundgarden is reuniting. That in itself is kinda awesome. But there's more for all you late 90's rock fans:

Rage Against the Machine have agreed to play a free concert in England to celebrate their winning the UK singles chart race over christmas, thanks to a fan internet campaign to promote "Killing in the Name of". They actually donated all of their proceeds from the UK single sales to charity.

Also from what I've read it's kind of a big thing to win the Christmas singles chart title in the UK, and was even parodied in the movie "Love Actually".

Here's a list of Christmas UK singles chart winners from over the years. Lately it's been all pop, but Queen and the Beatles have won in the past too.

And here's a link to the live BBC performance that Rage did for the BBC. Yeah, some parts were apparently cut out from the live show.

Now if only Nirvana could somehow put their differences aside and get back together...

NFL Playoff Time - at least for the Ravens

Playoff Tickets

A man goes to the Pittsburgh Steeler ticket office and inquires about purchasing play-off tickets. The ticket teller replies that there weren't any tickets for sale because the Steelers did not make it to the play-offs.

The following day the same man goes to the Pittsburgh Steeler ticket office and inquires about purchasing Steeler play-off tickets. The ticket teller politely replies that there weren't any tickets for sale because, "the Steelers did not make it to the play-offs."

This goes on for an entire week. The man goes to the Steeler ticket office inquiring about play-off tickets and the teller says none are for sale "because the Steelers did not make it to the play-offs."

Another week of this goes by and the man still is asking the ticket teller about Steeler play-off tickets. Finally the ticket teller in a loud voice says, "I'VE TOLD YOU FOR THE LAST 2 WEEKS THERE WERE NOT ANY TICKETS AVAILABLE BECAUSE THE STEELERS DID NOT MAKE THE PLAY-OFFS."

The man replied, "I know. I drive all the way from Baltimore just to hear you say that!"
